The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has announced disciplinary measures against three match officials for subpar performances in recent Premier League fixtures.
The suspensions were issued in line with paragraph 21 of the referees’ code of conduct, emphasizing ZIFA’s commitment to upholding professionalism, integrity, and high officiating standards.
Suspended Officials:
Lloyd Mapanje: Suspended from officiating Premier League matches from matchday 17 to matchday 20 due to his performance in the Dynamos vs Yadah match at Rufaro Stadium on June 19, 2025, which was deemed unsatisfactory by the match commissioner.
– Grace Gimo: Suspended from officiating Premier League matches from matchday 16 to matchday 19 following her performance in the Greenfuel vs TelOne match at Greenfuel Arena on June 14, 2025, which fell below expected standards.
– Claris Simango: Assistant referee suspended from officiating Premier League matches from matchday 17 to matchday 20 due to her performance in the Dynamos vs Yadah match on June 19, 2025, which did not meet the expected level of officiating.
ZIFA emphasized the crucial role match officials play in maintaining the game’s credibility and expects all referees and assistants to consistently demonstrate fairness, competence, and professionalism.
The association remains committed to accountability and providing continuous support and development opportunities for its referees through training, evaluation, and mentoring programs.
