The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) has appointed Sugar Chagonda as its new substantive Chief Executive Officer, effective August 1, 2025.
The appointment of Chagonda concludes a lengthy search for a new leader following the resignation of Adelaide Chikunguru in March last year.
Chagonda’s mandate includes improving editorial quality, enhancing operational efficiency, and securing the corporation’s financial future.
Mr. Chagonda brings a diverse background to the role.
He began his career at ZBC in 2004 before moving on to key corporate affairs positions at the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) and the Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company (ZCDC).
At ZTA, he led campaigns to promote Zimbabwe as a tourist destination, and at ZCDC, he was instrumental in shaping corporate governance and public relations.
He has also been involved in sports development, serving as a board member for the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) and as the founding Secretary General of Matesa Diamonds Football Club.
