Security Guard Burnt to Death in Harare Fire Incident

A tragic incident occurred on August 11, 2025, in Gazaland, Machipisa, Highfield, Harare, where a 39-year-old security guard, Francis Jeimani Mlambo, lost his life in a devastating fire.

According to Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the fire engulfed a kombi in which Mlambo was taking shelter, resulting in his death.

“The ZRP is investigating a fire incident which resulted in the death of a security guard, Francis Jeimani Mlambo (39) on August 11, 2025, at Gazaland, Machipisa, Highfield, Harare,” Nyathi confirmed.

The fire also destroyed six other scrap vehicles, leaving witnesses describing the scene as “chaotic and tragic” with thick smoke and flames consuming the vehicles before firefighters could contain the blaze.

The cause of the inferno is still under investigation, with authorities working to determine the origin of the fire.

Nyathi said, “The fire engulfed a kombi in which the victim was taking shelter and destroyed six other scrap vehicles.”

Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The incident has raised concerns about safety measures for security guards and the potential risks they face while on duty.

As the investigation continues, the police have urged anyone with information that could assist in the probe to come forward.
