Mark Ngwazi’s long-serving guitarist and manager, Obert “Father Ten” Mangani, has officially joined Chief Hwenje’s camp, marking a significant shift in his career.
At 35, Mangani believes he has matured enough to make informed decisions about his career path and is excited about the new challenge.
The musician’s decision to leave Ngwazi’s camp was announced by Chief Hwenje himself, who expressed his excitement about strengthening his team.
“He is now part of our crew, and he can provide you with more details about our vision,” Hwenje shared.
The musician believes Mangani’s skills and experience will be a valuable asset to his camp.
Mangani, who recently performed alongside Ngwazi at the Heroes and Defence Show in Hwedza, is eager to showcase a different side of Chief Hwenje’s music.
“Here at Chief Hwenje, I am not on holiday; I have come to change the mindset of many Zimbabweans who only think he is good at jingles and can only perform at national events,” Mangani said.
He emphasized that he will not change Hwenje’s ideology but rather highlight his creative side.
Mangani described Chief Hwenje as a “creative genius, composer, and performer who enjoys his job.”
He believes that Hwenje’s music catalogue has plenty of non-political songs that can be performed at various occasions, not just national events.
“If you go through his catalogue, Chief Hwenje has plenty of non-political songs that suit other occasions besides political rallies,” Mangani stressed.
Chief Hwenje expressed his excitement about having Mangani on board and plans to hold a series of shows nationwide.
“With Mangani, he is here to stay, and we hope he will enjoy his move as we want to build a strong band,” Hwenje said.
The musician aims to showcase his versatility and perform at various events, including parties and weddings.
Mangani assured that his departure from Ngwazi’s camp was amicable, and he has no bad blood with his former employer.
“My separation from Mark Ngwazi is now in the public domain, but for now, I can safely say I have joined Chief Hwenje’s camp as a manager and guitarist,” Mangani said.
He is focused on the new challenge and excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.
With Mangani on board, Chief Hwenje’s camp is a new dynamic expected to emerge, showcasing a fresh perspective on the musician’s music and creativity.
The musician’s efforts are expected to have a positive impact on the industry, and fans are eagerly anticipating the new developments.
