Scottland FC forward Tymon Machope has received a late call-up to the Zimbabwe Warriors squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda.
He replaces injured midfielder Jonah Fabisch, who suffered a concussion and failed a clearance test.
Machope’s inclusion in the squad is a testament to his impressive form this season.
The 32-year-old striker has scored 12 goals for Scottland FC, leading the team’s push for their first-ever Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title.
His goals have come at crucial times, making him one of the standout strikers in the local league.
Machope first made his name at Simba Bhora, joining the top-flight in July 2023.
He scored seven goals in his debut season, helping the team avoid relegation.
In 2024, he began slowly but silenced doubters with a blistering finish, netting 11 times and driving Simba Bhora to a surprise league title triumph.
After moving to Scottland in 2025, Machope initially struggled, scoring just five times in the opening 22 matches.
However, he has since rediscovered his scoring touch, becoming one of the club’s most reliable performers in the run-in.
At Scottland, Machope faces stiff competition for a starting spot from seasoned campaigners, including Warriors legends Knowledge Musona and Terrence Dzukamanja, alongside Malawian forward Khuda Myaba.
Despite this, Machope’s form has earned him a spot in the national team.
On his mindset, Machope said, “As a striker, you motivate yourself. When you score, you get more confident, so I want to keep on scoring and get to hundreds.”
This mentality has driven him to perform consistently and push himself to be one of the best strikers in the league.
Machope’s call-up adds firepower to Michael Nees’ frontline as Zimbabwe chases crucial Group C points.
With his impressive form and determination to score more goals, Machope is set to play a key role in the Warriors’ World Cup qualifying campaign.
