Government has introduced new, increased registration fees for Private Voluntary Organisations (PVOs), a move formalized this week under Statutory Instrument 82 of 2025.
The new fees, which are effective immediately, will see international organisations pay US250 and local groups charged US150.
The Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare gazetted the new regulations, citing Section 28 of the Private Voluntary Organisations Act [Chapter 17:05] as the legal basis for the change.
The statutory instrument, titled the “Private Voluntary Organisations (Registration) Fees Regulations, 2025,” revises the fee structure for both new and existing PVOs operating in the country.
Under the new regulations, international PVOs seeking registration will be required to pay US250.
Local groups, meanwhile, will be charged US150, which is payable at the official bank rate.
The announcement comes after the recent enactment of the Private Voluntary Organisations Amendment Act, which has been a source of contention within the civil society sector.
