Presidential Spokesperson, George Charamba has revealed that the government is planning to launch an offensive against drug Peddlers and Users in the country, as cases of people being caught with big drug consignments continue to rise.
Charamba posted earlier today on his X account (@Jamwanda) saying the state is contemplating “very ugly” measures for those involved in peddling or consuming drugs.
“GUYS, GET WARNED: We are contemplating very ugly measures for those involved in peddling or consuming drugs. It’s going to be really ugly!!!!!” He warned.
His warning comes a few days after high profile people, including Robert Mugabe Jr., son of the late former President, was arrested after he was reportedly found with drugs in his vehicle.
Former soccer stars Abas Amidu (ex-Caps United) and Reuben Mhlanga (ex-Dynamos) were also arrested this week for drug possession.
Phillip Chiyangwa Jr. was also recently involved in drug busts.
