Bikita South Legislator Energy Mutodi has been dismissed from his position as the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Budget, Finance and Investment Promotion, State of the Nation News reports.

His termination was announced by the Speaker of Parliament, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, following a resolution by the Committee on Standing Rules and Orders (CSRO).

The letter, addressed to Hon. Mutodi and circulating on social media platforms, states:

“This serves to notify you that pursuant to Standing Order No. 19 of the National Assembly, the Committee on Standing Rules and Orders (CSRO) has resolved to terminate your tenure as Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Budget, Finance and Investment Promotion with immediate effect.

“Consequently, all benefits and entitlements attendant upon the said role shall likewise be discontinued forthwith.”

The document does not provide a reason for the termination but the decision comes less than a week after Mutodi accused the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Investment Promotion, George Guvamatanga of demanding bribes to process payments to service providers.
