A thrilling weekend of football in Zimbabwe saw Scottland FC move to within touching distance of the premiership title, while the battle for survival continues to rage on.
In a pulsating encounter at Barbourfields Stadium, Dynamos and Highlanders played out a 1-1 draw, with both teams battling to avoid the drop.
Highlanders struck first through Brian Mlotshwa’s 17th-minute goal, capitalizing on a defensive lapse.
Dynamos responded with growing confidence, eventually equalizing through Kasondo’s composed strike just outside the box.
“We had our chances, but ultimately, a point is a fair result,” said Kaindu Dynamos coach.
“We’re still in the fight, but we need to start winning games if we want to stay up,” he added.
The draw keeps both teams’ hopes alive, but the stakes are high, with relegation hanging in the balance.
Meanwhile, Scottland FC moved six points clear at the summit with a stunning goal by Knowledge Musona in their clash against MWOS.
The win puts them in pole position to be crowned champions as early as their next fixture.
“I’m thrilled for the team,” said Tonderai Ndiraya.
“We’ve worked hard all season, and it’s great to see the fruits of our labor.”
Other results saw Ngezi Platinum Stars secure a crucial win over Simba Bhora, while TelOne snatched a 1-0 victory at Mandava Stadium against FC Platinum.
Greenfuel delivered a dominant performance against Kwekwe United, running riot with a five-goal blitz.
In another surprise result, Yadah’s survival hopes were dealt a blow as they could only manage a 1-1 draw against ZPC.
The final fixtures promise high drama across the league, with Scottland FC looking to seal the title and several teams battling to avoid relegation.
“It’s going to be a thrilling conclusion to the season,” said Kudzi Zvaguma a football analyst.
“We’ve got a lot of talented teams, and it’s going to be a real nail-biter,” he added.
