Tonderai Ndiraya has etched his name in Zimbabwe’s football history, as he became the first coach to claim the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) Cup in back‑to‑back seasons with different clubs.
After lifting the trophy last year with Simba Bhora, Ndiraya steered Scottland FC to a second consecutive league‑cup triumph, this time clinching the 2025 PSL title with two matchdays to spare.
Scottland FC sealed the championship on Saturday with a resounding 5‑1 demolition of Kwekwe United, a performance that earned the club its first league crown in the 2025 season.
“We’re thrilled to be the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions,” Ndiraya said after the match.
“It’s a special feeling to add a second silverware in a row, and to do it with a different club makes it even more historic,” he added.
The victory lifted Scottland to the top of the table, where they now sit on 65 points, 7 ahead of nearest rivals MWOS, confirming their dominance with two games left to play.
The decisive match at Ascot Stadium saw Scottland’s attacking flair on full display.
Kwekwe United could not contain the away side, and the 5‑1 scoreline reflected a dominant performance.
Meanwhile, Dynamos tried to bolster their relegation hopes in a separate fixture, edging past Bikita Minerals 1‑0.
A 20th‑minute penalty, converted by Jalai, proved the difference, giving Dynamos a crucial three points.
The win lifted them to 13th place with 37 points, a small but vital buffer as they battle to avoid the drop.
Coach Kaindu’s post‑match remarks underscored the significance with “Dynamos needed that win to keep the relegation fight alive, and the players responded when it mattered most.”
The match report highlighted several key moments with Nyahwa’s pass set up Ngwenya, whose distribution to Agymang created space, though the cross fell short.
Later, Leeroy Mavunga’s curled effort was thwarted by a goalkeeper’s punch, and a subsequent penalty was coolly converted.
“It was a tense game, but the penalty was a perfect moment,” Jalai said, “and it gave us the edge we needed.”
Kaindu’s achievement has sparked celebration among Dynamos fans.
The victory also cements Scottland’s push for continental qualification, as they now eye a spot in the CAF Champions League.
With two matchdays remaining, Scottland’s focus will shift to finishing the season strongly, while Dynamos will aim to extend their narrow relegation buffer.
Ndiraya’s historic double underscores a season of upheaval in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League, where emerging coaches and clubs are reshaping the league’s landscape.
