Sandawana Mines has spent nearly US$500 000 this year on Community Social Responsibility (CSR) projects to improve livelihoods and Foster development in Mberengwa.

The Mining company, which is a subsidiary of Kuvimba Mining House (KMH), has committed to continue working hand in glove with residents in Mberengwa to support community development initiatives.

Sandawana Mines General Manager, Godwill Gambiza said the improving global lithium prices will enable the company to avail more financial resources towards CSR programs.

“Most of our support has gone towards the rehabilitation of local roads. We have also channelled resources towards the renovation of Chebvute Block. We have also drilled boreholes to address water challenges in the community,” he said.

KHM’s group Chief Executive Officer Trevor Barnard said Sandawana Mine is set to construct a Lithium Concentrator plant at the Mining site through a Build, Operate and Transfer arrangement with a Chinese company.

Once completed, the Mine is expected to boost production and employ thousands of people in the community.
