CAPS United has parted ways with coach Ian Bakala and his technical team, including assistant Alexio Sigion, goalkeepers coach Witness Mukuli, and team manager Limited Chikafa.

The move comes after a poor season, with the team narrowly securing their top-flight status.

According to reports, Takesure Chiragwi is the favorite to take over as the new head coach, with his appointment expected to be announced on Friday, along with his technical team.

The club is looking to make a fresh start, with Chiragwi expected to bring in his own team.

“CAPS United has dissolved its Ian Bakala-led technical team as they prepare for the much speculated unveiling of Takesure Chiragwi,” a source close to the club revealed.

It’s unclear whether Bakala will remain with the club as an assistant under Chiragwi.

Bakala had previously taken over as head coach after Lloyd Chitembwe moved to the role of Technical Director, but his tenure was marked by struggles, with the team currently sitting 10th in the league.

The club’s president, Farai Jere, had previously emphasized the need for change, stating, “The club is poised for a new chapter. In pursuit of a robust revival, the leadership is leaving nothing to chance, intending to commence rebuilding imminently and establish a formidable foundation for future success”.

CAPS United’s decision to sack Bakala and his team is seen as a bid to turn around their fortunes, with the team struggling to find consistency throughout the season.

Chiragwi’s appointment is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the team, and fans are eagerly awaiting his official unveiling.
