Dynamos FC has dodged relegation, while GreenFuel, Bikita Minerals, Yadah, and Kwekwe United have been relegated from the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) rejected the Premier Soccer League’s (PSL) proposal to suspend relegation, confirming that four teams will be relegated at the end of the 2025 season.

The relegated teams, GreenFuel, Bikita Minerals, Yadah, and Kwekwe United, failed to secure enough points to retain their top-flight status.

Dynamos, who were in the relegation zone, managed to escape demotion, along with other teams like Highlanders and Chicken Inn, who secured their safety with hard-fought draws.

The PSL had proposed suspending relegation to allow for a smooth expansion to a 22-team league in 2026, but ZIFA insisted on maintaining the integrity of the league system.

The decision means the 2026 season will feature four newly promoted teams, FC Hunters, Bulawayo Chiefs, Hard Rock, and Agama, joining the remaining 14 teams from the current season.

It’s still unclear if the league will then revert to a 20-team structure in 2026.

Dynamos’ survival is a significant relief for their fans, who had feared the worst after the team struggled with only two wins in 23 matches.

Coach Kelvin Kaindu had expressed optimism about his team’s chances of survival, citing the congested nature of the bottom half of the table.

The relegation of GreenFuel, Bikita Minerals, Yadah, and Kwekwe United marks the end of their 2025 season, while the remaining teams will look forward to the new season, which promises to be fiercely competitive.
