Norman Mapeza, the highly acclaimed head coach of FC Platinum, bid farewell to the club yesterday after playing against Dynamos in a crucial Castle Lager Premiership encounter which ended with nill all draw.

Mapeza, who was at the helm of the club since 2014, with a brief stint away from 2019 to 2020, led the team to three Castle Lager Premiership titles (2017, 2018, and 2022) and three Castle Challenge Cups.

“Beyond the titles and accolades, Coach Mapeza built a club culture rooted in discipline, excellence, and belief,” FC Platinum said in a statement, expressing gratitude for Mapeza’s dedication and commitment.

The club praised Mapeza for transforming FC Platinum into the gold standard of Zimbabwean football, fusing flair with grit and stamping a Platinum seal both on and off the pitch.

Mapeza’s impressive track record includes a league title with Monomotapa in 2008, bringing his total league titles to four.

He is widely regarded as one of Zimbabwe’s most successful local coaches, known for inspiring a generation of young players and fans, and uplifting the broader Zvishavane community.

As Mapeza took charge of his final match, FC Platinum fans reflectd on his incredible legacy.

“Thank you, Moyo Chirandu. Once a Platso, Always a Platso,” the club wrote on social media, bidding farewell to their beloved coach.

Speculation is rife about Mapeza’s next move, with Hardrock FC and CAPS United reportedly interested in securing his services.
