Norman Mapeza has officially joined Scottland FC as their new head coach, following the surprise departure of Tonderai Ndiraya, who led the team to a historic Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title in their debut season.
Mapeza’s appointment was facilitated by Scottland benefactor Sir Wicknell Chivayo, who unveiled the coach on Thursday afternoon.
The event was attended by club president Pedzai “Scott” Sakupwanya and members of the executive, signaling the club’s confidence in Mapeza’s technical direction.
Mapeza brings extensive experience in local and international football to the role, having previously coached FC Platinum.
His appointment is expected to set the tone for Scottland’s next competitive chapter, as they prepare to make their debut in the CAF Champions League.
The news has been met with excitement among fans, who had been speculating about Mapeza’s potential appointment.
His experience and tactical discipline are seen as key assets for the team, which has been on a roll under Chivayo’s patronage.
Chivayo, a prominent businessman and philanthropist, has been instrumental in Scottland’s rise to prominence, pledging substantial financial backing to the team.
His support has been crucial in securing top talent and driving the team’s success.
Mapeza’s predecessor, Tonderai Ndiraya, had led Scottland to a historic title in their debut season, earning them a ticket to the CAF Champions League.
