In a sweeping series of developments across Zimbabwean football, CAPS United President Farai Jere has laid out his ambitious vision for the historic club, while a flurry of transfers and managerial movements signals a dramatic reshaping of the Premier Soccer League landscape ahead of the 2026 season.

Addressing club staff, coaches, players, and officials at a briefing in Harare, Jere declared his fundamental goal is to return the Green Machine to the pinnacle of local football.

He emphasized his desire to build an institution that captures the imagination of the nation’s youth.

“My vision as CAPS United president is to restore the club to its rightful place,” Jere stated, clearly outlining his mission.

He further expressed, “I want to build a CAPS United that every kid in the streets wishes to play for.”

 

This pledge from the CAPS United leadership comes amid a remarkably active transfer period, highlighted by significant deals and high-profile departures.

 

Reigning champions Scottland FC are at the heart of the wheeling and dealing, having secured the signature of Namibian international attacking midfielder Paulus Ileni Amutenyi from the University of Namibia (UNAM).

 

The 23-year-old, according to a contract, was signed for a fee of US$40,000 and will earn a monthly salary of US$3,000.

 

Conversely, Scottland have also begun a clear-out, releasing several players including winger Michael Tapera.

 

Sources confirm that Tapera, alongside teammates Kelvin Shangiwa, Ansa Botchway, Marvelous Chigumira, and Vassilli Kawe, have been let go.

 

This exodus has reportedly already sparked interest, with Tapera linked to clubs such as CAPS United and newly promoted Hardrock FC.

 

In a separate but significant administrative shift, Scottland have also allowed their Chief Executive Officer, Ronald Moyo, to depart and assume the role of ZIFA Chief Executive Officer, replacing Yvonne Manwa.

 

The promoted side Hardrock FC is making a major statement of intent, finalizing a landmark deal for Soccer Star of the Year and top scorer Washington Navaya.

 

In a remarkable transaction, sources reveal that Navaya received a house as part of his signing-on fee, capping a lucrative period for the striker which included awards bonuses and earnings from the recent AFCON finals.

 

Hardrock have also bolstered their squad with the acquisition of goalkeeper Martin Mapisa from MWOS FC.

 

Elsewhere, Bulawayo clubs are strengthening aggressively.

 

Chicken Inn, under new coach Tonderayi Ndiraya who is set for a training attachment at Spain’s Villarreal CF have signed a quartet of players including the newly available Vassilli Kawe.

 

Neighbors Bulawayo Chiefs have also been active, confirming the signing of defender Shiyandidi from Hwange and completing deals for Elvis Moyo, Brian Muza, Melikhaya Ncube, and Kelly Tokala.

 

Meanwhile, city giants Highlanders are poised to officially unveil their own new signings in the coming days.
