French superstar Kylian Mbappe says he wants to dedicate the Ballon d’Or to Africa, citing his deep connection with the continent.

The Real Madrid forward, who is among the favourites for this year’s prestigious award, said he has never lost touch with his roots.

“I have never lost the connection with my roots and my origins. Every time I go to Africa, I feel the love from the people,” Mbappe said.

The 26-year-old, whose father is of Cameroonian origin and mother of Algerian descent, said he feels immensely loved on the African continent.

“I’ve always felt very loved on the African continent. I hope I can leave with the Ballon d’Or and, in one way or another, dedicate it to them too,” he said.

Mbappe is expected to be a leading contender for the 2026 Ballon d’Or after a stellar season with Real Madrid.
