A local Multi-divisional Company, Pango Africa has pledged to offer unwavering support to women in sport as it donated a brand new kit to an all women’s volleyball team called the Hammers.

Speaking at a ceremony which was held in Harare over the weekend, the company’s Director of Operations Dr. Ronald Manhibi said the gesture was made to celebrate every woman in Zimbabwe in commemoration of the International Women’s Day and to prevent young women from engaging into drugs.

“We are in a dark period, in which many youths are entangled with drugs. Zimbabwe is no exception to this new pandemic, which has even become a national emergency. We are grateful for your dedication to volleyball, which is a positive way to stay engaged and to avoid drugs. Together, we can alleviate the effects drugs have on our society and ultimately eradicate them from our beautiful community.

“Pango Afrika pledges to support you big time in any way possible to empower you and enable you to stay away from drugs. We are committed to supporting you and other young people in Zimbabwe so that you can reach your full potential. Today, I am proud to present our first donation to the Hammers Club. The home jersey for the 2023 season is proudly sponsored by Pango Afrika and dressed by the Mucheno Spot. We hope that this gesture will inspire you and your team to dream more and achieve your goals,” he said.

Prior to this donation, the company donated 118 volleyball kits to six Manicaland schools and one Mashonaland East School.

The Hummers Volleyball team was established in 2016. Since then, it has acquired a lot of accolades. The team was recently crowned as the champions at the Mashonaland East Volleyball End of Year Tournament. A number of players have also emerged from the club to represent Zimbabwe in regional tournaments.

One of the team’s player Constantine Njinga said she was delighted that her team has established a great partnership with Pango Africa.

“We are grateful to be here to cement this partnership by the presentation of our
first home kit as Hummers. The new kit will help the team to be presentable at all competitions, “ she said..
