The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) is intensifying preparations for the upcoming Southern African Corrections, Prisons and Penitentiary Services Sports and Culture Games in Windhoek, Namibia, this August, with leadership rallying athletes to uphold discipline and strive for another overall victory.

In her speech, the Deputy Commissioner-General Manetswa Christina Manhivi highlighted the critical role of sport within the organization during a morale-boosting visit to the ZPCS contingent at Chikurubi Training School.

“An organisation without sport lacks a vital heartbeat,” Manhivi remarked.
“You have carried our flag high before, and we trust you to do it again. Let discipline and excellence remain your guiding principles.” She added.

The ZPCS enters the 2025 Games as the defending champions, having secured overall victory at the 2023 edition held in Pretoria, South Africa.
The visit to Chikurubi provided a platform for direct engagement with the athletes, allowing ZPCS leadership to address key logistical concerns including kitting, transport, and overall preparation.
Manhivi assured the athletes that their needs would be comprehensively addressed and channeled to the relevant authorities, a commitment reinforced by the presence of members from the Committee overseeing the Games.

ZPCS will be participating in 12 sporting disciplines, showcasing their prowess across a wide range of events. These include Netball (Female), Soccer (Male & Female), Volleyball (Male), Pool (Male), Chess (Male), Darts (Male & Female), Tug of War (Male), Golf (Male & Female), and Athletics (Male & Female).
