A 41-year-old Waterfalls man, Gibson Munyoro, has been arrested for assaulting his 19-year-old son, Ngonidzashe Munyoro, to death after he failed to pass police recruitment tests.
The incident occurred on August 2, 2025, after Ngonidzashe was sent back home from Mkushi Academy, where he had gone for police interviews on July 29, 2025.
According to reports, Gibson, a security officer, was furious with his son’s failure and subjected him to a brutal assault.
“He tied his hands and legs and placed an iron bar between them, suspending him between two tables and assaulted him using a baton stick,” said sources.
Ngonidzashe was reported to have shouted for help, but his father threatened people who were there, warning them not to interfere.
It was only when Ngonidzashe’s mother, Ruvimbo Masunga, arrived that the assault was halted.
“Unfortunately, the damage had already been done,” said sources.
Ruvimbo managed to restrain Gibson and got help from other people to take Ngonidzashe inside the house, where he breathed his last.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case, saying, “Police are investigating a murder case involving a teenager and his biological father.
Full details will be released in due course.”
The incident has sent shockwaves in the community, with many questioning the level of brutality and the circumstances that led to Ngonidzashe’s death.
Gibson’s actions have been condemned, and he is currently facing murder charges.
The police are continuing to investigate the matter, and Gibson’s arrest has brought some sense of justice to the family.
However, the incident serves as a reminder of the need for parents to support and encourage their children, rather than resorting to violence and brutality.
As the investigation continues, many are left wondering what drove Gibson to such extreme behavior.
The community is in mourning, and Ngonidzashe’s family is left to pick up the pieces of a life cut short.
The case highlights the importance of promoting a culture of non-violence and understanding in families.
