Joseph Mutangadura, a prominent businessman and owner of Lisheen Estate, was shot and killed at his farmhouse in Ruwa by suspected robbers in the early hours of today.
According to his son, Munyaradzi Mutangadura, the family was alerted to the incident by gunshots around midnight.
“My little sister called me around midnight, informing me to rush home as they heard gunshots,” he said speaking to the media.
Upon arrival, they found Mutangadura unconscious and rushed him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The assailants reportedly gained entry by scaling the perimeter wall and breaking down the sitting room door.
They then proceeded directly to Mutangadura’s bedroom, where they shot him. Munyaradzi stated that the robbers ransacked the room afterward, searching for money.
The circumstances surrounding the robbery are under investigation.
Mutangadura was a well-known figure in the business community, with a portfolio that included the Lisheen Estate, the popular Mutangadura Hideout, a chain of butcheries, and other ventures.
Police have revealed that they are conducting investigations and will release a full statement as more details become available.
