A 35-year-old woman from Tshishala Village has been arrested for allegedly killing her father-in-law following a heated confrontation regarding his chronic alcohol consumption.

The suspect, Faith Dube, reportedly attacked the elderly man on Monday after accusing his heavy drinking habits of sabotaging her marriage.

The incident, which has shocked the community under Chief Matibe’s jurisdiction, shows a deadly escalation of domestic friction.

According to police reports, Dube confronted her father-in-law to express her frustrations over his lifestyle.

She allegedly claimed that his heavy drinking had become an unbearable burden on her household and was actively affecting her marriage.

Detective Inspector Rachel Muteweri, spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Criminal Investigations Department (CID), confirmed the arrest and noted that the state is treating the matter as a homicide.

“Police arrested a Beitbridge woman for murder, and she will be presented in court on Wednesday,” confirmed Det-Insp Muteweri.

Dube was scheduled to appear at the Beitbridge Magistrate’s Court on December 24, 2025, to face formal murder charges.

This arrest comes at a time when the Zimbabwe Republic Police are struggling with a surge in domestic-related homicides.

In a similar case of violence, a Gweru man also fled after allegedly killing his wife over infidelity.
