Minister of Energy and Power Development Fortune Chasi has appointed Eliab Chikwenhere as the new acting Chief Executive Officer of Zesa Holdings with immediate effect.
Chikwenhere, who is also the group’s Financial Director will occupy the position which fell vacant after the former CEO, Josh Chifamba was suspended on graft allegations.
Sources who spoke to this publication said Chikwenhere will be assisted by an interim committee of 12 members whose names are yet to be revealed to ensure business continuity and the security of electricity supplies to Zimbabwe.
When contacted for a comment, Minister Chasi confirmed the development.
“Yes, i can confirm that Mr Chikwenhere is now the acting CEO for Zesa Holdings,” said Chasi.
His appointment comes shortly after the suspension of the entire ZESA board by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to pave way for investigations on allegations of corruption
