The nation will set its eyes on the Citizens Coalition for Change Members of Parliament to see if they will attend their swearing in ceremony which will held tomorrow after they disputed this year’s electoral outcomes.
The opposition party is calling for fresh elections and have since dispatched a high level delegation to engage with SADC and the A.U to raise their concerns.
The party is disputing the Presidential results which saw their Presidential candidate Nelson Chamisa (44%) losing to President Emmerson Mnangagwa (52.6%).
However, they are not disputing the National Assembly Results which saw them getting 73 legislative seats against 136 seats won by Zanu PF.
Yesterday, Clerk of Parliament Kennedy Chokuda published an Extraordinary Government Gazzette informing the nation that the swearing in of parliamentarians will be held on Thursday (tomorrow) at ten o’clock in the morning.
“It is hereby notified that, in terms of section 128(1) of the Constitution, the day and time for Members of Parliament to make and subscribe to the Oath of a Member of Parliament before the Clerk of Parliament in the form set out in the Third Schedule to the Constitution shall be 10 o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 7th of September 2023, for members of the National Assembly; and 1430 o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 7th of September, 2023, for members of the Senate; at the Parliament Building, Harare,” Chokuda said.
The political stance which will be taken by CCC tomorrow will be crucial in their fight to overturn the 2023 electoral outcomes.
