President Emmerson Mnangagwa launched the Nu-Gold Brand Products range, a subsidiary of the industrial processing and production plants which is overseen by the Agro-Industrial Park and Innovation Hub of the University of Zimbabwe on the 8th of September 2023.
The nation witnessed the milestone achievements made by the University to contribute to the development of the country.
President Mnangagwa said the launch of the Nu-Gold Brand Products is evidence that the nation is developing under its own customized model of education which speeds the country’s modernization and industrialization.
In his address, President Mnangagwa complimented the country’s unstoppable course of action to emancipate the living conditions of its people through launching of such products.
“Zimbabwe is on an unstoppable course to improve the livelihoods of our people and I commend Universities for playing their part. The Research, Science, Technology and Innovation thrust, being implemented by institutions of higher learning is a key cog to accelerate the attainment of our Vision 2030,” said President Mnangagwa.
He said the program will help ward off unemployment, food and nutrition insecurities in line with the NDS1.
“The establishment of these plants and the launch of Nu-Gold products are consistent with my Government’s priorities as espoused in the National Development Strategy. This initiative will go a long way towards the realization of food and nutrition security, employment and wealth creation that leaves no one and no place behind,” he said.
“The launch of the Nu-Gold Brand product range to be produced and commercialized through VN Agro (Pvt) Ltd is another milestone achievement. This has been strategically introduced to promote the production and consumption of traditional grains that include rukweza/zviyo, mhunga and mapfunde.
He said the entry of locally produced goods should provide a broad ranged market with quality goods for the consumers with prices tagged at affordable rates.
