Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have arrested Phaeteon Mutiyaya for selling alcohol to minors who went viral on social media while drinking beer.The accused Mutiyaya is an operator of a shebeen located within block 2C10, Nenyere Flats Mbare, Harare.

The arrest led to the recovery of a 16 × 1.25 litres of Super Chibuku beer, 38×200ml of Two Keys whisky, 25× 200ml of Gin, 20 empty beer crates, and 5× 500ml of Detroit beer.

In a statement, ZRP said they have identified the other minors who also reside in Epworth, Harare.

“Police have identified the other nine minors who were in the company of two minors from Epworth, Harare.They all reside at Nenyere Flats, Mbare with their parents and guardians who have since been located by the police.” Reads the statement.

ZRP has also revealed that the minors utilized the money they received as Christmas gifts to purchase alcoholic beverages.

“Investigations by the police have established that the minors used money they were given as Christmas presents to buy alcohol.
The minors traveled from Mbare to Harare Central Business District and linked up with other two minors from Epworth.” Reads the statement.

The minor’s ages are ranging from 5 to 11 years.
