The Citizens Coalition for Change, CCC has recalled the Mayor for Harare City Council Jacob Mafume, making him the third Mayor of Harare to be recalled by the opposition party in just 5 months after the country held its Hamonised Elections.
According to reports, CCC President Nelson Chamisa is the one who recalled Mafume and six other councillors for working with the party’s self-proclaimed Interim Secretary General Sengezo Tshabangu to dismantle the party.
The development comes after Harare City Council lost 2 Mayor’s, Ian Makone and Lovejoy Chitengu, who were both recalled by Tshabangu.
Bulawayo’s Deputy Mayor Edwin Ndlovu, Mutare Mayor Sophia Gwasira, her deputy Cloud Nengomasha, and two unnamed councillors in Marondera and Harare are among those who have reportedly been recalled by Chamisa.
CCC is facing serious divisions which has resulted in the recalled of many councillors and members of parliament country wide.
