Nigeria and D.R Congo have advanced to the Semi Finals of the Afcon Tournament, after the former beat Angola, and the latter beat Guinea in the quarter finals.
Nigeria beat Angola by a goal to nil, while DR Congo beat Guinea by 3 to 1.
Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman, who once played for Fulham and Everton in the English Premier league gifted the Super Eagles with a first half goal which was enough to secure their victory. His goal came on 41 minutes of play as the teams approached the half time.
DR Congo came from a goal down to beat Guinea 3-1 in their quarter-final at the Alassane Ouattara Olympic Stadium.
Chancel Mbemba, Yoane Wissa and Arthur Masuaku scored the goals as the Congolese recovered from conceding an early penalty to secure victory and a semi-final berth for the first time since 2015.
Both team will look to secure their spots in the tournament’s final to boost their chances of winning. Nigeria last won the cup in 2013, while DR Congo had their last touch of the silverware in 1974 while it was still called Zaire.
