In a surprising move, Guinea’s military leaders have dissolved the government with no explanation.

The military has also assured the public that a new government will be appointed. Speaking on behalf of the military, General Amara Camara, declared that operations would continue under deputy secretaries until the formation of the new government.

The members of the dissolved government have since been ordered to return their official vehicles and passports, while their bank accounts have been frozen.

The country’s current leader, Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya, defended the military’s actions as a necessary step to avoid chaos and also criticized the previous government for failing to fulfill its promises, highlighting the need for a fresh start.
