The United States of America (USA) is set to impose sanctions on over 500 targets today, as Russia marks its second anniversary after invading Ukraine on its special military operation. The move will be done jointly with other European countries.
In an interview with Reuters yesterday, US Deputy Treasury Secretary, Wally Adeyemo confirmed the news saying sanctions are not solely an American initiative.
“Tomorrow we will release hundreds of sanctions just here in the United States, but it’s important to step back and remember that it’s not just America taking these actions,” he said.
This new package of sanctions adds to the thousands of measures targeting Moscow, already announced by the United States in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
