A tragic accident occured on Saturday evening in South Africa which killed thirteen Zimbabweans and injured twenty six people when a bus that was travelling from Harare to Cape Town had a head on collision with a haulage truck.

The accident occurred approximately 130 kilometers before reaching its destination. According to reports from South African media, the driver of the bus tragically lost his life at the scene while attempting to exit the vehicle.

“Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene, where survivors were rushed to Worcester Hospital for urgent medical attention.

“The extent of their injuries varied, with some in critical condition, fighting for their lives. The cause of the accident is not known at the moment; however, authorities have since launched investigations into the tragic crash.”

The Provincial Minister of Mobility for the area, Mr. Ricardo Mackenzie, expressed his condolences to the grieving families.

“My heartfelt condolences go out to the loved ones. I wish a speedy and full recovery to those who were injured. I also want to thank the dedicated teams who responded to these tragic incidents, working long hours under difficult circumstances,” he said.

The injured victims have been transfered to Noodsentrum Hospital in Western Cape.
