Three pupils have lost their lives in Mutare after a motor vehicle ran them over at the Christmas Pass yesterday. The accident also injured another pupil who is currently receiving medical treatment at Victoria Chitepo Hospital.

The incident occurred at around 1500hrs when a Toyota Fortuner vehicle veered off the road and collided with the pupils, who were crossing the road at the 2km peg along Christmas Pass-Shamu road.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has since published the names of the victims as Blessing Chisaria (9), Silvian Maponde (13) and Strive Maponde, (7) who were all residents of Grange, Toronto (Chirochangu plot).

ZRP urged motorists to be cautions on the road.

“ZRP reiterates that motorists should be observant, alert and observe stipulated speed limits to safeguard lives. Above all, drivers are implored to abide by the road rules and regulations in order to curb road accidents,” reads the statement.
