Scottland FC suffered their first defeat in the Castle Premier Soccer League yesterday, losing 1-0 to Ngezi Platinum Stars FC at Rufaro Stadium.
The match was a highly anticipated one, with Scottland FC looking to maintain their unbeaten run after winning their first two matches against Triangle FC and Caps United FC.
However, Ngezi Platinum Stars FC had other plans, and they secured the win thanks to a penalty scored by Kudzai Chigwida in the 81st minute. The goal sent Talbert Shumba, the Scottland FC goalkeeper, the wrong way.
The loss means that Scottland FC drops to second place on the log standings, with Ngezi Platinum Stars FC taking over as the new log leaders with 7 points.
Despite the defeat, Scottland FC supporters remained optimistic about their team’s chances. “It’s called football, we don’t expect to win always,” said Baba Fidza, a Scottland FC supporter. “One defeat out of three matches shows that we have a way to go.”
The Castle Premier Soccer League continues tomorrow and Sunday, with other teams set to play their week 3 matches.
