The High Court of Zimbabwe in Hwange has sentenced two men, Events Ncube (31) and Keylop Ncube (22), to 25 years in prison for the brutal murder of 89-year-old Sibusisiwe Dube.
According to court records, the events unfolded on April 1, 2024, at Maphosa Business Centre, where the accused and the deceased were drinking beer. After leaving the centre at 7 pm, the duo followed Dube and attacked him with an axe, striking him on the head.
The perpetrators then transported Dube’s body to his home using a scotch cart, placed it in the kitchen hut, and set it ablaze. The charred remains were discovered the following morning, burnt beyond recognition.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe successfully prosecuted the case.
Meanwhile in an another story a Zimbabwean court has sentenced Milton Tsanzirai Mukamba to 23 years in prison for murdering his wife, Rutendo Kapfudzaruwa, in a dispute over $40.
The incident occurred on June 4, 2024, at Farm 19, Tanda, Mayo, where the couple had a customary marriage. The dispute began when Kapfudzaruwa used $40 without Mukamba’s consent, leading to a violent altercation.
Mukamba assaulted his wife with various weapons, resulting in her death that same night. When police arrived at the scene, they found Mukamba standing with fellow villagers, admitting to the crime.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe reported that Mukamba was arrested and subsequently sentenced to 23 years in prison for the murder.
