Premier league debutants Scottland FC have entered into an agreement with the City of Harare, which will see the former upgrading Rufaro Stadium to meet international standards.
Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume confirmed the development through a video post on the City of Harare’s Facebook page yesterday. He said the City agreed with Scottland FC and its partners to work on making sure that Rufaro Stadium is renovated and upgraded to reach the CAF approved standards by the end of this year.
Rufaro Stadium, which was the traditional home ground for Harare football Giants, Dynamos F.C, will now be the homeground for Scottland FC according to the new deal.
But Mafume said other teams will be allowed to use it to host matches.
“Other Premier League teams will continue using the stadium as before with the same rates applying contrary to mislead reports that Rufaro Stadium will be beyond the reach of other clubs who use it,” said Mafume.
The deal comes after Sakunda Holdings previously failed to enter into the deal wit the Council to upgrade the Stadium due to disagreements on terms.
The details of the terms of agreement between Harare City Council and Scottland FC are still sketchy.
