Kwekwe United has suspended head coach Saul Chaminuka and his assistant Clemence Zuze due to poor performance, the club confirmed on Friday

The duo’s suspension comes as the team struggles to find its footing in the topflight league.

The team will be led by Beknown Mhlaingena in the interim, according to a press statement released by the club.

“We confirm the suspension of our head Coach Saul Chaminuka and first assistant Clement Zuze due to issues related to non-performance,” the statement read.

This development comes after the club dragged Chaminuka to the police on allegations of match fixing just a day before his suspension.

The club’s financial struggles have been well-documented, with players protesting over outstanding salaries and sign-on fees.

Kwekwe United has admitted to facing financial challenges but assured that the club is working tirelessly to source funding and attract strategic partners.

“Indeed, like many clubs in the league we have faced financial challenges, but I can assure you that the club is working tirelessly behind the scenes to source funding and attract strategic partners, who can assist in stabilising and strengthening our operations,” the club stated.

The club is taking it one game at a time, focusing on consistent performance without putting the team under undue pressure.

“The focus is on consistent performance without putting the team under undue pressure,” the statement read.

Kwekwe United currently occupies position 17 on the log with seven points, two ahead of bottom-placed Triangle United.
