Gangsterism and kidnapping safety issues are at the centre of discussions at the National Council of Provinces being held today in South Africa.

This comes as the country aims to eradicating gangsterism by establishing ways of tackling organised crime. Cases of kidnapping for ransom are rising in South Africa, prompting the members to focus on improving safety and security in various provinces.

Police Minister Senzo Mchunu and Minister in the Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshaveni will grace the event to address security concerns from members.

“Key topics will include efforts to combat gangster regime, drug abuse in schools, an update on the state capture task team, as well as the government’s response to organized crime and kidnappings for ransom,” said Parliamentary spokesperson Moloto Mothapo.
