Police have arrested two more suspects in connection with the murder of Ruwa businessman, Joseph Mutangadura, who was shot dead at his Ruwa house in August, bringing the total number of people apprehended to five.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that that Tariro Mutsamanye (34) and Dexter Mugaro (31) were taken into custody for the murder of Mutangadura, which occurred on August 17, 2025.

The two new arrests follow a month-long manhunt that has resulted in a series of dramatic apprehensions, Phillip Mutasa (38) was the first suspect arrested on October 3 in Mkoba 6, Gweru, following investigations by CID Homicide Harare.

Mutasa reportedly implicated seven accomplices during questioning, setting the stage for the subsequent arrests.

Given Mandizadza (34) was apprehended ten days later on October 13, 2025, at the intersection of Robert Mugabe Road and Julius Nyerere Way, Harare, following a tip-off.

During his arrest, police recovered a cache of items from the back seat of a white Isuzu vehicle, including two pistols (one with an empty magazine and one loaded with seven live rounds), three .32 long live cartridges, two fuses, two explosives, a baby grinder, and a black monkey hat.

Vengesai Jabulani Mutasa (41) was arrested by members of the public in Sanyati after a deadly confrontation with police.

Mutasa also made headlines a few days ago, after he tragically shot and killed Constable Courage Muchechesi at Sanyati Police Station.

Earlier, he had exchanged gunfire with CID Homicide detectives at his Sanyati home, injuring a police officer identified only as Detective Constable Ngwenya.
