South Africa has been named the most generous country in the world, outperforming 24 other nations.

The research, conducted by digital financial services provider Remitly, utilized the Interpersonal Generosity Scale (IGS) to measure how citizens spend themselves for the benefit of others.

Unlike traditional indices that rank countries based on monetary donations or GDP, this study focused on empathy, emotional support, and the willingness to prioritize the needs of others.

South Africa secured the top spot with a score of 51.57 out of 60 and the Philippines followed in second place, with the United States rounding out the top three.
