AMERICAN rapper and music mogul Rick Ross has arrived in the country ahead of his highly anticipated Hustle and Heritage show, scheduled to take place at the Hippodrome in Harare.
The “Hustlin’” hitmaker touched down at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, where he was greeted by a small contingent of event organizers and local media.
Dressed in a custom black ensemble and adorned in his signature jewelry, the Maybach Music Group founder appeared in high spirits despite the long-haul flight, briefly waving to the small crowd that had gathered to catch a glimpse of the hip-hop heavyweight.
His arrival marks the beginning of the final preparations for what promises to be a landmark event, blending international hip-hop with Zimbabwean and pan-African talent.
Speaking exclusively to reporters shortly after his arrival, Ross expressed his excitement about finally visiting Zimbabwe, a country he has long wanted to explore.
“I’ve been all over the world, but the energy I feel stepping off the plane here is different,” Ross said.
“I’m here to connect with the people, feel the culture, and bring that real street energy to the stage. Zimbabwe, get ready.”
The artist emphasized that his visit is more than just a performance, highlighting the importance of bridging cultures through music.
“This is the Hustle and Heritage show,” he elaborated.
“It’s about showing that the hustle is universal. Whether you’re in Miami or Harare, we all understand the grind. And the heritage, the roots here it’s powerful. I’m here to celebrate that.”
Ross is set to headline the show alongside Nigerian Grammy nominee Omah Lay, creating a powerful transatlantic lineup.
The addition of the “Soso” singer adds a layer of contemporary Afrobeat flair to the event, promising a diverse musical experience for attendees.
The event’s publicist, speaking on the collaboration, noted the significance of bringing these two distinct sounds together.
“Bringing an artist of Rick Ross’s caliber together with Omah Lay, who represents the forefront of modern African music, was a strategic move,” the publicist explained.
“It shows the evolution of our sound and the global reach of events being hosted right here in Harare.”
While the international acts are a major draw, the show has also curated a robust lineup of Zimbabwe’s finest talents.
The local charge will be led by acclaimed vocalist Tamy Moyo, known for her dynamic stage presence.
She will be joined by genre-bending artist SaintFloew, veteran lyricist Takura, dancehall sensation Freeman, the energetic Shashl, and soulful songstress Feli Nandi.
Organizers have confirmed that security and logistics are firmly in place to accommodate the expected large crowd at the Hippodrome.
With gates set to open early afternoon, fans are eagerly awaiting a night that promises to cement Harare’s status as a key destination for major international music events.
