MDC-T Chairperson , Morgan Komichi has appealed to President Emmerson Mnangagwa to free Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activist Job Sikhala who has now spent months at Chukurubi Maximum Prison.
Komichi made the plea after paying Sikhala a visit at Chikurubi. He said President Mnangagwa should soften his heart and consider Sikhala’s freedom.
“Zimbabwe is a multi-party democratic nation which allows and considers the existence of opposition parties, therefore, opposition members should not be treated like murderers.
“We appeal to His Excellency, President Mnangagwa to soften his heart and allow Sikhala to be granted bail so he can go through trial while coming from home.” He said.
Sikhala, who was arrested last year along with 15 other CCC members was found guilty of obstruction of justice.
He is currently on pretrial incarceration on charges of inciting violence and disorderly conduct.
The activists arrested together with Sikhala were granted bail.
