The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) has appealed to the Zimbabwe Electricity Regulatory Authority (ZERA) to be given the greenlight to hike electricity tariffs for the utility to be able to provide services sustainably.
In a statement, ZETDC said the price review will enable the company to generate the necessary revenue for service provision and pay for expenses related to the purchase of electricity, operations, and regulatory.
The review will also enable them to account for under recovery from the prior year’s adjustment, costs, R&D expenses, and general administrative expenses. They said they will also build capacity for the mining, agricultural, industrial, and tourism sectors’ economic growth.
