The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has reduced the prices of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) this January.
The new prices which were announced today will see gas being sold at a maximum price of US$1.58 or ZWG$40.91, going down from US$1.85.
In a statement, ZERA said traders are allowed to sell it at prices below the prescribed price depending on their advantages.
The announcement will bring some relief to a lot of households as gas is now a major source of energy for cooking due to power cuts.
Zimbabwe is currently facing excessive power cuts as ZESA is failing to meet the country’s power demands. A lot of households are now depending on solar and gas for daily use.
