Nine women who were arrested at a massage parlor in Harare on charges of soliciting for the purposes of prostitution have been sentenced to a fine of US$30 each, or a 1 month jail term for failure to pay.

The women, aged between 19 and 27 appeared in court on 3 May 2025 following their arrest on 2 May by the policeat their place of business. They admitted that they were guilty of the offence.

The police conducted the operation after receiving  information about their services from social media platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook, where they were soliciting for prostitution.

The online adverts said they offered massage and sexual services for a prescribed fee and listed the given address as the business location.

An undercover police officer visited the premises as a potential client where he was directed to a bedroom. While in the room, 9 women presented themselves in a semi-naked state.

“At this point, the undercover officer revealed his identity, and other police officers who were part of the operation entered the premises and the women were subsequently arrested,” reads a statement from the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe.
