Six shops in Harare’s Central Business District were destroyed by fire early this morning, reducing valuable stock to ashes.
The blaze, which broke out at the corner of Leopold Takawira and Bute Street, burnt down six tuckshops, marking the second time such incident has occurred in the area within three months.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation as police and fire officials on the scene are to determine the origin of the blaze.
There have been no reports of injuries or fatalities.
This morning’s fire follows another destructive blaze on June 21, which also ravaged shops along Leopold Takawira Avenue and resulted in an estimated US$50,000 or more in lost stock.
