The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is investigating a viral video showing a self-proclaimed prophet sexually abusing women under the guise of spiritual guidance.

The footage, which has sparked outrage and concern, appears to depict the prophet engaging in inappropriate and coercive behavior with vulnerable individuals seeking help.

According to Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the ZRP is working tirelessly to gather evidence, interview victims, and determine the extent of the abuse.

“We are aware of the video since it has gone viral, and the ZRP is running investigations to arrest the perpetrators since the act is a criminal offence, whether for content creation or otherwise, as it is pornographic,” Nyathi said.

Nyathi further stated that complaints have been received in Chitungwiza regarding the so-called “Madzibaba,” who allegedly abuses women seeking help with issues such as barrenness.

“In Chitungwiza, we are receiving complaints on the same so-called ‘Madzibaba,’ yet to be revealed his name, abusing women in return to help them with their issues of barrenness,” he said.

The prophet’s actions have sparked outrage and concern among the community, with many calling for justice and accountability.

The prophet allegedly uses his position of power to manipulate and exploit the women, causing physical and emotional harm.

This incident comes as the police have called on individuals, locally and abroad, who were raped or duped by well-known prophet Walter Magaya to open cases against him.

Magaya is currently out on bail on several charges of fraud and rape.

The ZRP’s investigation is part of a broader effort to address the issue of self-styled prophets exploiting vulnerable individuals, particularly women.

There have been several reports of women being raped by self-styled prophets while seeking help.
