In a match that will be etched in the memories of football fans for a long time, Dynamos FC pulled off a stunning 3-2 comeback win against title-chasing Scottland FC at Rufaro Stadium on Saturday.
The Glamour Boys, despite being poorly funded and fighting relegation, outplayed their star-studded opponents in a game that was brimming with drama, skill, and heart.
Scottland FC took the lead in the 37th minute through Tymon Machope, who glanced in Knowledge Musona’s free-kick.
Despite Dynamos’ pressure, with Gwatidzo and Ngwenya impressing, Scottland held firm at halftime.
However, the second half saw a transformed Dynamos, inspired by halftime words from coach Pastor Kevin Kaindu.
Just four minutes into the second half, Shadreck Nyahwa powered a shot past the keeper to level the score.
“We are still in the drop zone, so we want to hopefully remain consistent and keep on picking points to give us an advantage in terms of our position,” Kaindu had emphasized before the match.
Emboldened, Dynamos took control, with Leeroy Mavunga terrorizing the flank.
After the hour mark, Jalai intercepted play and delivered a dangerous cross that led to Vusi Ngwenya smashing a first-time volley into the net, giving Dynamos a 2-1 lead.
However, Scottland equalized through another unchallenged Machope header off Musona’s free-kick with 16 minutes left.
But Dynamos refused to yield.
With just eight minutes remaining, substitute Denver Mukamba seized a loose ball at the edge of the box and unleashed a stunning volley that flew into the net, sending Rufaro into raptures.
The goal crowned a heroic comeback and lifted Dynamos to 28 points, though they remain 17th in the relegation zone.
This monumental win sends a message that Dynamos will be ruthless in their fight for top-flight survival, a testament to resilience, belief, and team spirit against the odds.
“If we pick up maximum points, it will give us an advantage and probably change the position where we are,” Kaindu added.
Scottland FC, on the other hand, stayed second on the log with 52 points, two points behind leaders Simba Bhora.
