A brutal murder has shaken Kodobo Village, Chief Nhema, Shurugwi, after a 33-year-old man, Last Bazangi, allegedly killed his brother-in-law, Peter Chigamanye, 55, over a cellphone dispute.

The incident occurred on September 5, when Bazangi visited his sister, Patience Joka, and her husband, Chigamanye.

According to police reports, the dispute began when Bazangi seized Chigamanye’s mobile phone and refused to return it.

The situation escalated when Bazangi armed himself with a hoe handle and assaulted Chigamanye several times on the head.

Chigamanye fell unconscious and was rushed to Shurugwi District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Midlands Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, confirmed the arrest of Bazangi, stating that he was apprehended the next day at a bus stop along the Zvishavane-Masvingo Road.

The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder.

This incident is a stark reminder of the escalating violence plaguing Zimbabwe.

Recently, a string of murders has sent shockwaves through the nation, raising concerns about safety and security.

In a similar case, a 16-year-old boy was accused of dragging an 85-year-old woman into the bushes and killing her.

The murder has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the need for comprehensive strategies to address the root causes of violence.

As the investigation continues, the community is left to grapple with the senseless loss of life over a trivial matter.

In Zimbabwe, the law allows for the use of force by police officers in specific circumstances, but lethal force is only justified when necessary to confront an imminent threat of death or serious injury.

The case highlights the importance of understanding the legal framework surrounding violence and the use of force.

Bazangi is currently in police custody, facing charges of murder.

The case will proceed to court, where he will face justice for his alleged actions.
