The self-proclaimed Interim Secretary General of the Citizens Coalition for Change, Sengezo Tshabangu yesterday filed an urgent High Court application seeking for an order to bar all recalled CCC candidates from contesting in the upcoming by-elections to be held on 9 December.
The application was filed on the same day that the party had appeared in court on a case where CCC is suing Tshabangu for acting as the Party’s Interim Secretary General, a position they said is non existent.
The fresh High Court application comes after every recalled CCC Legislator and councillor had successfully filed their papers at the nomination court to reclaimed the seats where they were dismissed.
Tshabangu’s legal representation led by Mr Nqobani Sithole argued that the recalled members cannot contest under the name of the organisation which recalled them, a development which prompted them to file the urgent application.
Meanwhile, the High Court postponed the hearing of the matter in which CCC is suing Tshabangu for acting as the party’s Interim Secretary General and recalling the party’s elected officials. The case will be heard today at 14:00 hours.
