Zimbabwean Golfer Dies in Car Accident

Tragedy has struck the world of golf following the death of Zimbabwean professional golfer Morton Kombai in a car accident on Sunday evening.

Kombai, who had just participated in the 2025 FBC Zimbabwe Open, lost his life in the accident that occurred at the intersection of Samora Machel Avenue and Seventh Street in Harare.

Four other golfers were injured in the accident, including Tonderai Masunga, Biggie Chibvuri, Victor Kachepatsonga, and Lucky Ayiswere.

The injured golfers are currently receiving medical care at a local Hospital and Kensington Medical Centre.  They are reported to be in stable condition.

The Zim Open Committee and the Zimbabwe Golf Association are devastated by the loss of Kombai. In a statement, they said, “We are devastated by this loss and remain in close contact with the relevant medical teams and authorities. We salute all five players for their commitment to the sport and the spirit they brought to the 2025 tournament.”

The golfing community is in shock following Kombai’s untimely death. Kombai was a talented golfer who had made a name for himself in the sport.

His passing is a significant loss to Zimbabwean golf, and tributes are expected to pour in from fellow golfers, fans, and officials.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation, and authorities will work to determine the circumstances that led to the tragic loss of life.
